Emerging executives in economic development are eager to grow their skills and build connections that will help them move forward in their careers. That’s why NCEDA created the Emerging Executives Initiative.
Designed expressly for young professionals and for members with less than five years of experience in economic development, the Emerging Executive Initiative deepens the knowledge of new economic developers and increases their familiarity with other aspects of economic development and policymaking in North Carolina. It provides opportunities to participate in focused professional educational opportunities and forge connections with peers in our state’s economic development circles.
As a participant, you’ll have the opportunity to attend specialized programming at NCEDA conferences and other events. You’re especially encouraged to attend the annual Emerging Executives Forum, which is laser-focused on sharpening the knowledge and skills you need for a successful economic development career.
There is typically an Emerging Executives luncheon at our Fall Conference in October and Annual Conference in June. There is also an Emerging Executives Forum in January each year. See more details on Emerging Executives events.
In addition, NCEDA awards one new economic developer the Emerging Leader of the Year award.
