The Randolph County Economic Development Corporation, located in Asheboro, NC, is seeking an Existing Industry Director to support the county’s thriving portfolio of industrial businesses. The Director is responsible for directing the corporation’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program with services including, but not limited to, regular communication and relationship development with existing industries, addressing company specific problems, servicing expansions, sharing information about industry support programs, organizing and hosting industry-related events, maintaining business directories and databases, and initiating and implementing workforce development programs in partnership with allies. The Director will also perform other related duties as required or directed by the President.


The ideal candidate will display: a working knowledge of economic development issues and practices; knowledge and experience of industrial development; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with existing industries, industry allies, and community leaders; ability to analyze a situation and develop an effective course of action; ability to be a team player; self-motivation and ability to work without supervision; strong written and oral presentation skills; good organization in a multi-task environment; strong computer skills; ability to plan, organize, prioritize daily activities and assignments; ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergency situations and/or tight deadlines.


The Director position requires knowledge and experience equivalent to completion of four years of college with coursework in business or a related field. A minimum of two to four years’ experience in economic development or a related field is preferred. The Director must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation for travel required in the performance of the duties of the position. Experience and knowledge of a manufacturing environment as well as a working knowledge of HubSpot are beneficial.

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications; the salary range for this position is $55,500 to $82,800. Benefits include health insurance, 401k, and paid vacation and sick leave.
