Position:  Business Advisor for 10,000 Small Businesses

SUMMARY:

BridgeValley Community & Technical College seeks Business Advisors for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. The positions begin in September 2025. The program is housed within the Division of General Education & Professional Programs with Business Advisors reporting to the program’s Executive Director and works closely with the Program Manager.

Program & Curriculum
The 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) initiative is part of a national investment to unlock the growth and job creation potential of small businesses and is based on the broadly held view of leading experts that a combination of education, business support services, and access to capital best addresses the barriers to growth for small businesses.

The 10,000 Small Businesses program has three main components: business education, business support services (technical assistance and customized, one-on-one business advising) and the opportunity to access capital. The ultimate goal of the initiative is for the participating business owners to increase their revenues and create jobs in their community and surrounding areas.

Examples of Duties
Business advisors play a crucial role in the success of the 10,000 Small Businesses program. They support designated groups of 5-7 business owners as they complete the primary 10KSB deliverables: a written growth plan and a growth pitch. Typically, a BA oversees 2-3 groups of business owners. This is a contract position requiring up to 26 hours per week for the 12-13 weeks of the cohort. The pay ranges from $50 to $55 per hour, with payment made in arrears over the course of the contract.
