Making wise cracks on a stage may not be as easy as it looks. Just ask Jerry Seinfeld, who shares his secrets for overcoming creative blocks and spells of low energy. Now 66, Seinfeld calls Transcendental Meditation “the ultimate work tool.” TM, a mantra-driven mindfulness technique that takes 20 minutes twice a day, helps him reduce stress and sharpen focus. “Whether it’s writing or performing, my brain and my body, which is the same thing, are constantly hitting the wall. And if you have [TM] in your hip pocket, you’re Columbus with a compass,” Seinfeld says. Complementing this is his regime of strength training, the benefits of which, studies have shown, include relieving symptoms of anxiety.
